If I took the name off your CV, would I still recognise you?

When you look at your CV, do you see a list of things you did?

Or do you see yourself?

Most CVs suffer from a “personality vacuum.” They list where you worked and what you did, but they fail to answer the most important question a recruiter has:

Who are you and can you do the job?

The Authenticity Gap

In a world of AI-generated summaries and buzzword-heavy templates, authenticity is your greatest competitive advantage. If your CV reads like a generic job description, you aren’t just blending in, you’re disappearing.

Your “professional brand” shouldn’t be a mask you wear. It should be an honest reflection of your core values:

  • The ‘Why’ behind your ‘What’: Why do you solve problems the way you do?
  • Your unique methodology: What is the “you” factor that makes your work different from someone with the exact same job title? How do you stand out?
  • Your integrity: How do your personal values translate into professional results?

Stop Listing. Start Leading.

A contemporary CV isn’t a history report, it’s a pitch. To make it stand for something, you need to shift the focus:

  • Values-Driven Achievements: Instead of just saying you “managed a team,” explain how your leadership values empowered that team to exceed targets. Provide quantifiable metrics if you can.
  • The “So What?” Test: Every bullet point should prove your value. If it doesn’t reflect what you stand for, efficiency, innovation, empathy, or grit, then it’s just noise.
  • Human-Centric Language: Ditch the “results-oriented professional” cliches. Use active, precise language that sounds like a human being, not an algorithm.

    Your CV is Your Promise

Your CV is the first promise you make to a potential employer. It’s a declaration of what they can expect when you walk through the door.

If you’re struggling to bridge the gap between who you are and what’s on the page, you don’t need a better template, you just need a better story.

Stop blending in and start standing out. Let’s build a CV that truly reflects your professional worth!
